An overwhelmed mother in a waiting room, trying to fill out forms and deal with a crying baby at the same time. And, an experienced dad with some time on his hands. The two had never met before and would likely never meet after. And yet, because these people had civilization inside of them (rather than imposed upon them), a difficult situation worked out beneficially, even lovingly, for all involved.

The beautiful moments of life are almost never scripted; they are driven by what’s inside of us. Self-generated goodness blesses the world and blesses us.  Compassion operates from the inside-out, and not the opposite.

So, before going back to the mundane, please spend a moment comparing the times when you acted from your own, internal goodness, and contrast them with following orders. The two are very different and provide very different results.
