Description

However little known and understood, there are two primary civilizational models in our history books… or at least there used to be. The first of these is the one we know: A society structured predominantly for war. We’ve always lived within this type of arrangement. The second of these is a commercial society. There’s a great deal to say about these two models; one mainly peaceful and one mainly otherwise; but the deep difference is this:

War cultures are organized around that which we fear. And if they become persecuting cultures, around that which we hate.

Commercial cultures are organized around multiple centers: Around production, around our desires, around our cleverness and creativity, around what we love, around beneficial associations, and so on.
