Beginning in the late 1960s, something exceptional happened in Chicago. The story was reported widely in the 1970s, but always by outsiders. It was my good fortune to be on the inside of this story, and it’s something that needs to be recorded.
It has now been many years since I met Dick Woit and his ‘Warriors’. I’ve traveled widely and experienced many things, but I’ve never found anything quite like what I fell into as a teenager.
