Description

It was World War I that spawned the 20th century. Certainly everything prior played a role and a great many things poured into that four-year period, but the world that came out of “The Great War” was very, very different from the world that went into it.

The war really did change everything; not just borders, not just governments
and the fate of nations, but the way people have seen themselves and the world ever since. It became a kind of hole in time, leaving the postwar world
permanently disconnected from everything that had come before. However important World War II was to all that followed, World War I was more.

World War I created whole civilizations, from the sweepers of floors to the
mightiest executives, which were permanently structured for all-out war.
This is the world all of us grew up in and the world we acclimated to. That world was hammered into shape between the years of 1914 and 1918 AD.
