A large percentage of humanity is starving for appreciation. Why this is so requires a long explanation, but in fact it is so. This deficit is both easy and healthful to fix.
A simple note like this one, from a little girl to her dad – “thank you for working so hard for us” – can mean far more to a father… and supply him with far more motivation… than most people would suspect.
We need to receive gratitude and we need to express gratitude. Without repeated actions of this type, we become barren on the inside.

So, before going back to the mundane, make a list of people to whom you can express some appreciation. Then decide that you will show your gratitude, one after another, perhaps on consecutive days.
